The cylindrical stepped cube project was completed in rder to teach undergraduate students alternative machining methods for difficult-to-machine materials, such as titanium. By using die-sinker EDM technology, students designed the part solid model and corresponding electrode model. Then, cutting conditions were carefully selected on the EDM in order to achieve good surface quality and intersection of features on all faces of the cube workpiece.
